It seems that today, the word “vintage” is making a popular come-back in fashion, jewelry and home décor.  The most popular, though, is the “girdle”. The vintage girdle is specially designed to make women feel fabulous, no matter what style of skirt or dress she may be wearing.

Vintage lingerie is now being seen in every vintage boutique and dress store from the East coast to the west coast.  These girdles are constructed much the same way that the originals were, offering a true authentic look.

Generally the girdle was considered terribly constricting, tight or just plain uncomfortable! Today these girdles are anything but uncomfortable.  The more modern approach to creating a comfortable vintage girdle is what is making them more appealing to women of all ages, everywhere.

The vintage girdles are quite a bit different than traditional, old-fashioned girdles because they are generally hand sewn with softer fabrics, subtle lace and sometimes silk underlining.

Vintage girdles are also crafted in colors that resemble their earlier days, which were usually black, white, light pink or baby blue and sometimes beige.  Today these new vintage style girdles have a better boning inserted in them, and they are definitely more flexible than the earlier days.

Many bridal shops have adopted this new design to tie in with the vintage wedding gowns that are also becoming more and more popular these days.  Vintage lingerie and vintage girdles have come a long way since the days of tight, uncomfortable and unappealing underwear that was commonly worn by all the women.  The beauty and comfort that these vintage girdles offer make wearing a girdle actually wonderful!

It is no secret that the vintage clothing period is making its way back, but who would have thought the popularity would be in the clothing you don’t see?  Vintage girdles now are made with comfy cotton, luxurious lace, sexy see-through and sultry satins.  You can often times find them in bright colors or floral patterns too.  Many vintage girdles have more variety in sizes and lengths as well.  It used to be that a girdle worn by women had only one style, one size and one length, making them a boring necessity in a woman’s wardrobe.

A vintage girdle with attached garters will make a fantastic and sexy addition to your wedding gown or formal evening wear.  Many of the girdles also can be found in full body or only bottoms; either way you just cannot beat the comfort of these modern day vintage girdles. Women generally love the vintage look because it is so different from the normal, plain look of modern clothing. Vintage undergarments are often times made better than factory made slips and undergarments, due to their handmade quality.

Many women love wearing lingerie or girdles, because it takes them back to the classic beauty of yesterday’s pin up girls or beautiful bombshells of yester-year.  Today, many of the vintage lingerie lines include vintage girdles, vintage camisoles, vintage brassieres and vintage corsets.
